Anand Mishra, Police Inspector and Station In-Charge of Sakchi Police Station, successfully completed the prestigious 20th Tata Mumbai Marathon on January 18, covering the full marathon distance of 42.197 kilometers in an impressive time of 5 hours, 23 minutes, and 31 seconds. This was his debut in a full marathon event, having previously participated in half marathons.
Upon returning to Jamshedpur, Inspector Mishra was honored by various organizations for his remarkable achievement, which has become a source of inspiration for many in the city.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon, flagged off from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus by Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, witnessed over 50,000 participants this year, making it one of the largest running events in the world. The marathon featured multiple categories, including the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Run, Dream Run, Senior Citizens’ Run, and Champions with Disability Run.
In the men’s elite category, Berhane Tesfaye from Eritrea clinched the gold medal with a time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 44 seconds, followed closely by compatriot Merhawi Kesete and Ethiopia’s Tesfaye Demeke. Among Indian runners, Anish Thapa emerged as the best performer, completing the race in 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 23 seconds, while Maan Singh secured second place with a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 37 seconds.
The Mumbai Police ensured a robust security arrangement for the smooth execution of the event, which has become a celebrated tradition in the city.
