
Global Sports ropes in former PPA World No. 2, Jay DeVilliers amongst other international stars to headline the $100,000 event.
11th July 2024, Mumbai: Global Sports recently announced the launch of the Monsoon Pickleball Championship 2.0 that will be held from the 20th of August 2024 till the 25th of August 2024 at NESCO, Mumbai. This is the 2nd edition of the highly successful Monsoon Pickleball Champion and is expected to be bigger than the flagship edition in both talent and participation.

Over 800 participants are expected to compete in a total of 47 categories including former World No. 2 on the PPA Tour, Jay DeVilliers. Jocelyn “Jay” Devilliers, often referred as the Flying Frenchman, has shot to the top of the sport in all three divisions. He has proven himself to be one of the most fiery and exciting players to watch and is one of the most popular professional pickleball players on tour and will bring flair and talent to the Monsoon Pickleball Championship 2.0. Other international pickleball stars namely Meghan Fudge, RylerDheart, Rob Nunnery and Thaddea Lock will also feature at this championship.
The Championship offers a total of $100,000 (close to INR 1 crore) prize money that will be up for grabs for all participants in the 47 categories ranging from Open PRO, 19+ intermediate, 30+ Open, 40+ Open, 50+ Open, 18+ Open, 60+ Open, Split Age 35+. Conducted by Global Sports, who has etched its legacy in the dynamic world of Pickleball in India and was started by four individuals who belong to different streams of businesses: Hemal Jain, Suresh Bhansali, Niraj Jain and Divyesh Jain. Further partners include Shashank Khaitan, a prolific Bollywood director and Yuvi Ruia. Most recently, Karan Johar, India’s foremost film producer and director partnered up with Global Sports to facilitate marquee events such as the Monsoon Pickleball Championship, an annual pickleball championship.
Earlier in the year, Global Sports signed a historic partnership with the PPA Tour and the MLP to elevate pickleball in India to international standards. This partnership will kick off from January 2025 and will include the Indian Open and the next Monsoon Pickleball Championship.
