~ Indian actor, writer, director, and producer Sohail Khan joins World Padel League as team owner of Panthers ~
Mumbai, 23 January 2025: The World Padel League today announced Sohail Khan Productions as the owner of Team Panthers ahead of its highly anticipated India debut, scheduled to take place from February 5-8 at the Nesco Centre, Mumbai.
Sohail Khan Productions, known for delivering blockbuster hits such as ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’, ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Ready’, and ‘Partner’, has now expanded its horizons into the world of sports. With prior experience of owning multiple cricket properties, Indian actor, writer, director, and producer Sohail Khan ventures into the rapidly growing sport of padel.
Team Panthers boasts a stellar line-up of elite international padel players, including Women’s World No. 7 Marta Ortega Gallego and World No. 8 Sofia Araújo, along with prominent male stars like Sanyo Gutiérrez (World No. 19) and Javier Barahona (World No. 29), among others.
Sharing excitement on joining World Padel League, Bollywood star Sohail said, “Padel has become ingrained in our day-to-days, with many of our colleagues from the industry playing it for fun and passionately as well. It’s a sport that fosters a sense of community, and with a league of the World Padel League’s stature making its debut in India, it will undoubtedly elevate the sport to a whole new level.”

Team Panthers will take on the Jaguars in the season opener on February 5. They will then take on Cheetahs on the following day and Lions on the penultimate league stage match of the World Padel League.
The tournament will follow a single round-robin format, with each team playing against every other team. The top two teams will advance to the final.
Each match will comprise four sets: two men’s doubles, one women’s doubles, and one mixed doubles.
