The UAE Women’s Under-19 cricket team is all set for an exciting challenge as they prepare to compete in the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup 2026, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, starting from 11 July.

Young fast bowler Samaira Dharnidharka has been entrusted with the captaincy of the 14-member squad. The tournament is a crucial one because it serves as the qualification event for the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2026, which will take place later this year.

With a talented squad and plenty of determination, the UAE girls will be aiming to make their country proud and secure one of the coveted qualification spots.

A Big Opportunity for the Young UAE Squad

The ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup will feature 13 teams from across Asia, all fighting for just four places in the upcoming Asia Cup.

Every match will be important, as only the teams that win their quarterfinals will book their place in the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2026.

For many of these young players, this tournament is more than just another competition. It is a chance to gain valuable international experience, showcase their talent, and take another step toward representing the UAE at the highest level.

UAE Drawn Alongside Oman and Bhutan

The UAE has been placed in Group B, where they will face Oman and Bhutan in the league stage.

Their campaign begins on 11 July, when they take on Oman at the YSD UKM Oval in Kuala Lumpur. A strong start could give the team the confidence needed for the rest of the tournament.

The second group match will be against Bhutan on 14 July at the Bayuemas Oval.

Finishing among the top two teams in the group will be essential for progressing to the knockout stage.

Road to the Asia Cup

Once the group stage concludes, the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals.

However, reaching the last eight will not be enough.

The winners of the four quarterfinal matches will automatically qualify for the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2026, making every knockout game a virtual qualification final.

The semifinals are scheduled for 17 July, while the final and third-place playoff will be played on 18 July at the Bayuemas Oval.

Her leadership will play a key role in helping the UAE remain calm under pressure during crucial matches.

The UAE selectors have chosen a balanced squad featuring promising batters, bowlers, all-rounders, and a specialist wicketkeeper.

The team management believes these young players have the ability to compete strongly against some of Asia’s best emerging cricketers.

Supporting the players will be an experienced backroom staff led by interim head coach Subha Venkataraman.

The support team also includes strength and conditioning coach Shyla Alam and team manager and physiotherapist Merin Saji, who will ensure the players remain physically fit and mentally prepared throughout the tournament.

Their guidance will be vital as the team faces the pressure of an international competition.
